Video Game Portrayals
I see the way that women and men are portrayed and video games and I do not see this as a problem, I think that they do this because it makes the games more entertaining to look at. I do not think that people are really looking at these figures as what women or men should be. I think that these characters are used to make everything more entertaining. I think that over masculine men, with large muscles, and who are extremely aggressive is what fuel video games. I feel that most people that play video games are not similar to the people that they portray in the game. I think by doing this the characters get to live lives that are only possible in their wildest dreams. Do you think video games would be as popular if they were more accurate in representing life?

Media Overload
Media overload is something that I feel like every person experiences, there is just too much out there to look at and analyze and often time the truth or facts get lost in the overload. For example I looked up a website for a politician, and many different things popped up including false stories, hate websites, and other sorts of Internet spam that prevented me from getting to the truth. I feel like this overload is good because the truth is always out there and accessible but the only problem is that it is buried by tons of other details that just blur the perception of the looker and make it hard to separate truth from fiction. I believe that this overload is something that is not going to stop and I think that the only way we can really deal with this is to teach the kids of today how to separate real sites from sites that are there to sell you on an idea. This overload has been something that constantly effects me because I have to read through so much nonsense just to get to one little piece of information. Do you think this overload is something that is going to keep getting worse or do you believe we will figure away to organize the overload?

Melting Pot
America was once called the melting pot because they said that in America everyone's differences have become indistinguishable and by doing this a person loses where they were born and becomes an American. They later changed this saying and called it a tossed salad because even though everything is mixed up we can still take out the individual parts. I think we have succeeded at making the melting pot because when I look out I do not see English, Germany, Nigerian, Kenyan, or Chinese. I just see people who are similar to all these people but never actually know what ethnicity they are from. So instead of referring to these individuals by ethnicity I often categorize them in a way that will be easier for me to describe that person to another in the future. "He was black, white, brown, etc." This does not make me a racist or insensitive it is just that i feel this is the best way to describe this person to someone I know. I dont believe that it is the best way to do things but i think it is the best way to describe a person. PLease let me know if this is wrong or right? or just how you feel.

"When is it Classy to be Naked?"
When I was looking through my houses magazines I noticed a lot of magazines like Maxim, FHM, ESPN, GQ, and Total Film Guide. I noticed that out of these six magazines 4 had pictures of women with barely any clothes on. After looking through most of the magazines I realized that many of the women in these magazines were very proud of being portrayed in these magazines as sexual beings. Is this something that has strengthen women's cause? Because I have heard that magazines like Playboy are classy ways of getting nude in print. I do not see how this is true though, is there really a way a woman can show herself naked in a way that does not turn her in to a sexual object instead of a person? I have been wondering this for a while because I see this as just as objectifying as women that you see in peoples cell phones or email or anywhere... is the only difference the brand that comes with Playboy makes it socially acceptable to be in naked in this magazine?

Media and Identity: The Bathroom Wall: Introduction: Is Perception Reality?
Media and Identity: The Bathroom Wall: Introduction: Is Perception Reality?: I believe that this is blog was right on. I believe that our perception is our reality because it is the only way that we look at the world is through our own perception so it is our reality. I believe that when our media is being completely controlled and everyone is buying in to it equally it is easier to go with the flow and accept this as reality because everyone accepts it and requires no extra work of self to connect with others. I am saying that by accepting this as reality it is easier to connect with people around us because we are all working with in the same guidelines and there fore can have a building block to go deeper if the conversation goes that direction. So I do believe it shapes our perception but I believe that it (media) is necessary for everyone to be able to connect and feel a common bond.
